"Hey dan b, are you in que?? Just wondering."
No, Southern Ontario.

yesterday, at a construction site where a new kh is to be built,a crane fell down, killed a sister and injured some others severly.
local tv reported that now police has started investigations against the crane operator.
building a kh in germany is done by voluntary workers that are not properly insured by the wts but are dependant on their own insurances.

"But there is no point in making fun of the people that died or were hurt. Aim the sarcasm toward the right target, the WTS."
I agree completely with this statement. I fail to see any humor in the death of people, whether JWs or not. This poor woman and the other injured people were victims of an unfortunate accident. It worries me to see these types of judgemental comments being posted here. For me, that was one of the things that sickened me about the JWs. Perhaps we are not as "free" of their mind control as we would like to think. I know that it took me years to free myself of this mindset.

i was watching a very interesting documentary this morning on heinrich himmler.
for those who don't follow history, he was the head of the nazi ss, and a main architect of the "final solution".
anyway, they mention the jw's as being imprisioned in the concentration camps.
Hi Mum,
It was not my intention to minimize the "screaming" issue. I apologize for not wording my question better. This is what I was trying to achieve in this thread:
During WW1 the Bible students were the objects of mob violence due to their unusual beliefs during that period of history. Yet the beliefs for which these people so bravely faced persecution were completely changed. The JW teachings of the time were completely altered as time went on. So really, these people suffered for nothing. (Sincerity alone is not enough-remember the Live Forever
book?) So I was wondering, has there been that dramatic a change from the time that these JWs suffered in Germany, until now? It doesn't seem so. Perhaps that's because the WT society has toned down their "prophecying". Althought there have been numerous changes, it doesn't seem to be the major doctorinal changes which would parallel the post WW1 changes. (The "Millions now living" and the 1925 fiascos were types of changes that, I feel anyway, are on par with the 1914 generation and sheep-goat switches)

Hello all,
I was watching a very interesting documentary this morning on Heinrich Himmler. For those who don't follow history, he was the head of the Nazi SS, and a main architect of the "Final solution". Anyway, they mention the JW's as being imprisioned in the concentration camps. This got me wondering. Besides the 1914-generation change in 1995, and the sheep vs. goats switch, what other major doctorinal changes have occurred since 1945? I'm not talking about the flip-flopping on things like women screaming if raped, but MAJOR changes, changes that, if you didn't switch beliefs with them would result in DF'ing for apostasy.
Thanks in advance.

why does your name have to appear on the monthly report card that you hand in?
i completely understand the need to keep track of hours, placements etc., but this could be accomplished without each persons name.
is it really necessary (or scriptual) to judge the state of a persons spirituality by numbers tallied on a score card?
Hi willy_think,
"but seriously, the org needs names on the cards to determine who is placing and who needs a special talk. they also keep detailed stats at every level from the top all the way down to the individual."
I know why they need names, but I still don't agree that it is proper. But, being a religion based completely on works, how else could it be? Your "level" of spirituality is based on the numbers. Just like any salesman, I guess.

i'm still sitting on the fence trying to figure out which direction to go in.
i think one of the reasons i have'nt left yet is because of the fact that i'm not entirely sure that the wts is really not god's organization.. some of the reasons why i feel that way is because of their insight on the scripture.
i've never heard of any other religion attempt to decipher the prophecies in the book of daniel and revelations.
Hi Leander,
"I think one of the reasons I have'nt left yet is because of the fact that I'm not entirely sure that the WTS is really not God's organization."
I would suggest then, that you don't leave. I have a friend who was DF'd for conduct (not apostasy) and she still believes that the JW's are the one and only true religion. Because of her situation she is not in a position to go back. This eats at her everyday, and the guilt is going to kill her. Don't leave until you come to a realization (if you ever do) that the JW's are just another religion. But I would suggest that if you do stay, stop looking at sites like this, and bury yourself in JW literature. The doubts will drive you insane!
Just my opinion...

i read justhumans response on one of the threads, and he mentioned that jeruselum was not destroyed in 607 bce.
i would like to have more information on this.. pureheart
Scholar,
You know you're on the right track when Fred backs you up. You're in good company.
Seriously though, I'd like to hear your "sound basis for 607" too.

during the baptism talk in a recent assembly the co delivering the talk apparently made this statement:.
'you have often been warned about bad association outside the congregation - we want to warn you about bad association within the congregation.
some might approach you with misinformation about jw's they have picked up from enemies of the truth and try to confuse you do not listen to them talk to your elders about them.'.
"Any baptised btw?
It did happen..........NONE baptised...once. LOL"
I heard that at one of the last assemblies around here, there was a talk but nobody taking the big swim.

"Why bother with reporting at all?"
It's very important to keep records of the activity spent in the service. Once a year they mail these reports to God so he can figure out his discipline strategies. Also, God needs to know how many books and magazines are being placed with the public so he knows when he needs to crank out the holy spirit to guide his writers. And finally, by keeping track of the numbers, God can figure out who's earning better acreage (maybe next to a lake) for the coming paradise in the new system. After all, you can't have some 1-hour-a-month shmuck grabbing up the good paradise spots!
I have another suggestion for God: have your organization change the report slips to include good deeds performed toward widows and orhans--- no, wait a minute, I guess that doesn't boost membership. Nevermind.

My suggestion is to continue accepting reports, but do so without keeping a running record of each publisher. If this work is as important as you say, God will keep track of your record for you so you can earn your salvation.
Just doing my part to help out!!
